Payment of pensions to retirees in Syria 2026
The Syrian Postal Corporation announced the resumption of pension payments for retirees covered by the social security system, starting Monday, at several post offices in the governorates of Damascus, Aleppo, Rural Damascus, Quneitra, and Idlib.
The Corporation had previously explained that it would announce pension payment dates through its social media accounts. Starting next month, it will also begin sending SMS messages to retirees informing them of their payment dates. This step aims to streamline the payment process and improve communication with beneficiaries, especially the elderly and those without internet access.
A few days ago, the Corporation's Director General, Imad al-Din Hamad, told SANA news agency that this initiative is part of a plan to develop postal services, facilitate payments, and reduce overcrowding at post offices.
Hamad also noted the expansion of the home pension payment service, allowing pensions to be delivered to retirees' homes upon request for a nominal fee of 100 Syrian pounds. This aims to alleviate burdens, improve service quality, ensure smooth pension payments, and reduce congestion at post offices.
The institution confirmed that it is continuously monitoring the matter with the relevant authorities to ensure that salaries are disbursed as quickly as possible, stressing that any previous delay was beyond its control due to the late arrival of the schedules and financial blocks, and that the date for the start of disbursement will be announced directly as soon as the official amounts are approved.
