Required Documents

The General Organization for Social Insurance and Pensions in Syria requires a set of supporting documents that vary depending on the type of transaction (old-age retirement, death certificate, or routine data update). These documents are necessary to ensure the continued disbursement of benefits and to keep retirees' files up-to-date.

1. Essential Documents for Retirees (Routine Update)
Branches require retirees (civilian and military) to submit the following documents periodically (usually at the beginning of each year) to avoid suspension of their pension:
Family Statement: A recent statement including all family members and any significant events (marriage, divorce, death).
Civil Registry Extract: An individual extract for the retiree or beneficiary.
Certificate of Non-Employment: Proving that the retiree or beneficiary does not hold another public sector job (especially for eligible sons and daughters).
Educational Certificates: For sons over the age of 18 (to prove their continued enrollment in education until age 26).

2. Documents for Allocation of Death Pension (For Eligible Heirs)
In the event of the death of the insured person or retiree, the heirs must submit:
Death Certificate: An extract from the Civil Registry. 1. Legal Inheritance Certificate: Identifies the legal heirs and their shares.
Copy of Personal Identity Card: For all eligible heirs.
Legal Guardianship Document: If there are minor children (under 18 years of age).
Unemployment/Non-Contribution Certificate: For widows or unmarried daughters to prove they are not receiving another salary.

3. Settlement of Benefits (End of Service) Documents
For newly retired employees:
End of Service Decision: Issued by the employee's former employer.
Statement of Service: Shows actual years of service and contributions paid.
Pension Allocation Application: A paper form to be completed at the institution's office.

Important Advice:
Timing: It is recommended to submit the documents before the ATM card expires to ensure that the salary is not suddenly stopped.
Authentication: All academic certificates and medical documents must be officially authenticated by the issuing authorities.

Work Injuries: Requires medical reports from the institution's specialized committees and, in certain cases, police reports.
